deceler8 offers a peer-driven program for the restless innovators among us to slow down and focus their energy.
No lectures. No internet. No distraction. Instead: Authentic conversations. Deep reflection. Clarity on how to move forward.
You may think of it as a mini-sabbatical. An entrepreneurial time-out to disconnect from the all the noise and reconnect to what's truly important.
Together with people just like you.
There are two more luxurious bungalows available for USD $2'100. The optional co-working week is an add. USD $450, excl. accommodation.
The price includes 3 months of facilitated peer-coaching after the retreat. Plus: You'll join the exclusive D8 alumni community with an annual reunion.
He loves to travel, plays bad guitar, and reads voraciously. He has purchased too many books on his Kindle.
We believe that the best way to refocus your energy is within a trusted group of entrepreneurial peers to share experiences and learn from each other. Hence the 5-day retreat at a secluded location in Bali, followed by a week of mindful co-working and 3 months of facilitated peer-coaching to stay on track.
How do you select participants?
As always, it's all about people. That's why we take selection very seriously and primarily reach out through our personal networks to attract high-caliber entrepreneurs. Our aim is to gather a highly diverse group in terms of entrepreneurial experience but consistent in the quality of what everyone brings in.
We'll select based on your individual application as well as looking at the group as a whole to ensure a good mix. People with personal referrals from trusted sources are treated preferentially. But we'll do a skype interview with everyone who meets the criteria to get to know each other.
For the pilot program in 2013, we selected 12 entrepreneurs out of 50+ applicants. People came from all over the world and were 34 years on average.
Can you really decelerate in only 10 days?
We see the program as an inflection point towards deceleration. That's why we highly encourage everyone to stay longer and participate in the mindful co-working week at Hubud to digest all the input from the retreat and transition back to reality.
There's much to explore in Bali: You may take a tour up the majestic Rinjani volcano or visit the habitat of the Komodo dragon. Get inspired by the famous Green School or tap into the growing entrepreneurship ecosystem around the StartupGetaway community. Or simply pamper yourself at one of the many spas and develop a yoga practice at Yoga Barn.
The important thing is to consider the program as a starting point for building a deceleration practice that you can sustain when you return home to your accelerated environment. We'll stay connected as a peer group to keep each other accountable and collaborate beyond our shared time together.
What is the exact program?
The details are still in the making but here's a rough program outline already.
During the retreat, you can expect some daily meditation practices and reflective group conversations in the morning, free time in the afternoon for personal deceleration and some further peer-to-peer sessions before dinner to go a little deeper. No lectures. The evenings are mostly free for socializing and simply spending some quality time together. We disconnect from the internet during the whole time.
The co-working week is much more loose and we'll only meet for dinner to reconnect as a group every day. The idea is that you can follow your own rhythm and prototype new ideas and practices as you transition back to reality. We will invite some special guests to join us for dinner and offer group activities like Yoga practice in the morning as well as small excursions to interesting places.
When we return home, we'll continue interacting through a closed Facebook group and have a monthly check-in for three months to see where we all stand and how we can support each other. The bigger vision is to become a trusted community that will grow over time as more people join the program. The first reunion is planned at this year's Burning Man.
What is included in the price?
The program fee includes accommodation, food, all activities during the retreat and facilitated peer-coaching for three months. You will also become part of the larger D8 community with an annual reunion.
The optional co-working package includes membership at Hubud, daily morning Yoga, a visit to the Green School as well as the group dinners in a special location every night. We will make recommendations for accommodation but you are free to choose your own place from the amazing variety Ubud has to offer.
